Plato Agreement

After several rounds of discussions, GISSA and PLATO have come to an agreement whereby GISc practitioners will be able to register as professionals with Plato. Plato is the statutory body which is governed by the Plato Act. GISSA's aim is to look after its members interests and facilitate the registration process with Plato.

Before final registration (with Plato) in respect of the GISc Technologist and Professional GISc Practitioners can take place, it will be necessary for them to write and pass an examination based on the Plato Act and Rules, as well as on GISc legislation.  The first paper, (Plato Act & Rules) will be of 2-hour duration and the second paper (GISc Legislation) will be of 3-hour duration.  Both papers will be open-book format. Attached is a list of the relevant legislation.  Candidates will be responsible for obtaining their own copy of the laws, as amended.

The next exam date will be on the 12th November 2007.

ONLY pre-assessed candidates who have confirmed with Plato (in writing) that they want to write the exam and at which venue, will be allowed in the exam locale.

In order for venue arrangement to be finalized promptly, they must inform Plato by return email or fax whether they intend writing in May and also at which of the six venues would be most suitable to them.
