GISSA Supports West Rand Careers Exhibition 2013

Marlanie Moodley answers the question "What is GIS?"

The West Rand Careers Exhibition is organised annually by the Rotary Club of Krugersdorp and in conjunction with The West Rand Chamber of Business and Tourism. GISSA was there once again this year from Tuesday 12th to Thursday 14th March 2013 at the Greenhills Stadium, Greenhills Hall, Randfontein.

The aim is to provide a venue and an occasion where learners of Grade 10, 11 and 12, may be exposed to multiple career choices presented by as many institutions and employers as possible. This platform constitutes the foundation for career decisions to be taken in the future. It endeavors not to only satisfy the needs of the broad spectrum of students but to cater for those with specific needs.

GISc was represented with the learners having the opportunity to gain exposure to GIS and its potential far and above what they see in the school curriculum. GISSA thanks GISSA Gauteng Education representative, Marlanie Moodley, for her hard work and efforts in ensuring that thousands of Grade 10-12 Learners were able to experience GIS first-hand and hopefully be inspired to use it one day.
