On November 16th 2022, students and teachers from various public and private schools across the Turks and Caicos Islands came together to showcase their passion for geospatial thinking at the DDME 2022 GIS Day Symposium and 3D modelling competition as the department joined the rest of the world in celebrating World Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Day.

Geoinformation Science has come of age, but to many users and practitioners today the origin and history of the science is unknown. In a recent article Rachel Steenson, Market Engagement Manager at ESRI in Ireland, explains the principles behind GIS and how it is used to visualise the landscape.
