Mentorship

Avatar Posted by Siyabulela Ndlebe at Apr 10, 2018 09:33 AM
An Idea for Mentorship Program:

Could Graduate/ Entry/ Mid Level/ Intermediate employees have at least an organization/ school for Mentorship programs on every City during working hours and afternoon classes for assistance in Registering in Plato/ SAGC/ GISSA/ SACNASP/ EAPASA as Technicians/ Technologists/ Professionals for those who qualify for such?

I myself a B.Sc Graduate in GIS and Geology, with 3 years working experience as a Data Researcher in a Automotive Industry but haven’t been registered due to struggling of getting a Mentor in Port Elizabeth.

Can someone please help for the availability of these institutions?

Warm Regards,
S Ndlebe

Siybulela I suggest you get in touch with the E. Cape GISSA committee and try to attend a GISSA meeting to put your ideas forward or make contact as per the details above.

How to attend GISSA Meetings?

Hi Gavin,

Thank you very much for your response!

I did try and access Eastern Cape GISSA platform for future meetings, but it seems to be outdated. Las meeting I see was a General Meeting on 30th - 31st October 2013 in Fish River Resort.

Could you please assist me with the listing of the next available meetings in PE?

Mentorship in PE

Hi Siyabulela,Please get in touch with John Kotze john@jksurvey.comHe has mentored GISc candidates on various government funded programs.Note that LGSETA and National Treasury have such programs, but as you work for a private company you will have to find funding for the mentor to visit you at work.Perhaps John could visit you and your employer to lay out what is required, and perhaps your employer will fund his time. You may mention to John that I gave you this suggestion - maybe cut and paste this into your email to him.Good luck and kind regards,Zoltanzoltans@geograph.co.za
